Phnom Penh (FN), Sept. 27 - Former Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) leader Sam Rainsy announced not to join protest against Prime Minister Hun Sen in New York, as he has other tasks to accomplish.

“My apologies are due as I will be unable to attend in New York on Saturday September 29 due to work commitments elsewhere,” Sam Rainsy wrote on Twitter on 26 September adding that “many thanks to all those who are able to attend this important rally.”

The protest, planned to take place on Friday, 28 September, at the UN headquarter from 10 a.m to 3 p.m, aimed to call on the United Nations to not recognize the Cambodian government.

Prior to the departure for the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly to be held in New York, 27-30 September 2018, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen underlined that Cambodia shall not be exploited in any forms.
Strongman of Cambodia announced that he farewells once again to serve the nation by using diplomatic politics on the international stage, not going on a war with weapons.

He recalled that back in the day, he served and fought for the country by using weapons and invested life as the capital to liberate and protect the nation and that he did not wish the next generation to experience it.

The presence of Cambodia at the United Nations is an important milestone in diplomatic history, as Cambodia serves as Vice President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly 2018-2019.
