Phnom Penh (FN), Sept. 26 - Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong said Cambodia welcomed all foreigners who wished to invest in Cambodia, addressing to Chinese investors in a courtesy call on Wednesday morning at the Peace Palace Phnom Penh.
“Cambodia has given high priority to Chinese investors, an iron-clad and the reliable partner of the kingdom,” said former Cambodian foreign affairs minister.
Namhong added that Cambodia-China embrace comprehensive strategic partnership and that the two’s relations have been strengthened through the exchange visits of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Primer Li Keqiang to Cambodia, and of Prime Minister Hun Sen to China.
In particular, relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China featured in a wide range of frameworks such as bilateral, Lancang-Mekong, belt and road, and ASEAN-China, he continued.
President Xi’s Belt and Road initiative has also strengthened cooperation between the two countries, including the construction of a new airport in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville highway and the people-to-people exchange.
It is worth noting that in 2017, China-Cambodia trade volume reached $5.8 billion and expected to reach $6 billion by 2020. Within the first seven months of 2018, Chinese investment in Cambodia amounted to $2.8 billion.
