Phnom Penh (FN), Sept. 24 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, on Monday morning, recalled that today is the 20th anniversary of the attempted assassination in Siem Reap (24 September 1998 - 2018).

“At 8:52 am on 24 September 1998, one of the B40 rockets out of four flew towards my vehicle but missed; unfortunately, it hit the house on the side of the road and killed one person and injured another,” the premier wrote on Facebook.

The assassination was attempted during the second-mandate National Assembly plenary session, which was held at the Royal Palace in Siem Reap, under the presidency of Norodom Sihanouk.

“If all the rockets aimed at me and that there was no heavy rain, which made the wire command error, probably my life will end since then,” the premier said adding that “If I died at that time, then what would happen in Siem Reap? Could war end under a win-win policy as Hun Sen’s alive?

The premier thanks teveda protecting Angkor Wat, Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm, and other sacredness for shielding him and allowing him to lead the country from war to peace and development as it today.

Prime Minister underlined that he will not let murderers topple or color revolutionize him.

“Regardless of the cost, I must protect peace and people of Cambodia.”
