Phnom Penh (FN), Sept. 21 – Belgian Ambassador to Cambodia Phillippe Kridelka and executive director of the Belgium-Luxembourg-Thailand Chamber of Commerce Philip Coates praised Cambodia's political stability with the most favorable investment conditions in the region, speaking in a courtesy call on Cambodian Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak at the Ministry on 20 September 2018.
The two praised Cambodia's geography, physical infrastructure and attractive investment climate, and invited the minister to attend the Cambodia-Belgium Business Forum, which will be held early December to promote cooperation between the two countries.
In response, Minister Pan Sorasak agreed to attend and thanked the two delegations for their support and confidence. He also informed them about Cambodia's strong economic growth, investment and incentive policies for foreign investors.
The minister also highlighted the benefits of the Special Economic Zones and the Techno Industrial Park, which allows the company to manufacture automotive parts for export to regional and global markets under the preferential system.
In addition, the Minister also shared the vision of the Royal Government of Cambodia to turn Cambodia into a high middle-income country by 2030 and high income country by 2050, as well as Cambodia’s readiness in coping with the effects of global trade war and economic fluctuations.
Cambodia and Belgium have renewed their diplomatic ties on 12 November 1992. In 2017, Cambodia-Belgium bilateral trade volume reached $411 million, and for the first seven months of 2018, $292 million.
