Phnom Penh (FN), Sept. 11 - The largest banana investment company in Cambodia, Longmate Agriculture Co Ltd, planned to export yellow banana to the Chinese market in early 2019.

Longmate's managing director Hun Lak told Fresh News on weekly Special Guests show that his company plans to export at least 25,000 tons of banana to China then Korea and Japan.

Longmate Agriculture Co Ltd. decided to invest $32 millions in the plantation in Chhouk district, Kampot province with the Chinese firm in banana plantation.

They believed their Chinese partner has extensive experience in research and production of bananas. Moreover, Cambodia has a good climate and suitable land for banana plantation.

The company believed that with this first large-scale investment in Cambodian banana, it contributed to promoting national growth by provinding jobs to local workers, and reduced poverty and migration.

The investment provides a decent jobs and a better living conditions to 300 local staff these days. The company is projected to employ around 2,000 workers next year.
