ST. PETERSBURG, May 18 (Xinhua) — Russia and Thailand have signed a series of agreements aimed at strenthening cooperation in the fields of military, energy and food.

The agreements were signed following talks between Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday.

TASS reported that Thailand had plans to buy helicopters from Russia and also explored the possibility of purchasing Russian military equipment for its air force and ground troops.

However, Prayut Chan-o-cha said that the deal should be mutually-beneficial and asked Russia to conclude contracts for the supply of agricultural products from Thailand.

The two countries had signed a memorandum of understanding on security control of fishery and aquaculture products' import and export.

Russian Gazprom and Novatek corporations signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with the Thai national oil company PTT Public Company Limited.

PTT may participate in Gazprom and Novatek projects of liquid gas production and mining.

Dmitry Medvedev said that the trade turnover between the two countries should reach 10 billion U.S. dollars annually in the future.
