CARACAS, May 17 (Xinhua) — Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro denounced on Tuesday a "systematic aggression" on political, media and diplomatic issues aiming at "creating conditions" for a military intervention in the South American country.
In a news conference with international media, the president insisted that some external factors are preparing an "onslaught" against the country.
A scene of violence is assembling against Venezuela to justify a foreign military intervention, said Maduro.
He assured that important sectors of the local opposition, such as the entrepreneurship, private media and the political parties that form the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD, right-wing), "endorse these plans."
Maduro denounced espionage cases against Venezuela by the United States as well as the recent incursion of two U.S. aircraft in Venezuela's airspace.
At 06:09 local time (1039 GMT) on May 11, the Venezuelan aviation authorities detected a Boeing 707 E-3 Sentry entering Venezuelan airspace to carry out electronic spy activities which, according to Maduro, had "lethal capabilities" in the communication field.
The South American leader added that on May 13 another U.S. airplane made an illegal incursion.
The president said that at least 1,315 news items from various North American and Spanish newspapers have "distorted" information about the reality in Venezuela, and are currently "softening the terrain for a military intervention."
Therefore, the president asked Venezuela's Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez to take actions in the international media to counteract those information.
"We demand that the world campaign of harassment, threatening, hate and manipulation comes to an end," said the Venezuela's president.
