PHNOM PENH, May 17 (FN) — One hundred and thirteen fire-fighting trucks purchased from China were delivered to the Cambodian Interior Ministry on Tuesday, officials said.
Cheam Khunnath, president of KNN Cambodia, which won the rights to supply the fire trucks to the ministry, handed over the trucks to Cambodian Interior Ministry Secretary of State Em Sam An at a ceremony here.
According to Em Sam An, the KNN Cambodia was awarded in December last year to supply 113 fire trucks to the ministry at the cost of about 9.8 million U.S. dollars and the company had purchased them from Chengli Special Automobile Company in China.
"The Isuzu trucks were made in 2015 and each truck carries 4, 000-liter water tank and 2,000-liter foam tank," he said.
Interior Ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak said that without the inclusion of the new arrivals, the country currently has 128 fire trucks with 559 fire-fighters.
"The new fire trucks will be distributed to some districts in cities and provinces across the country," he told reporters, adding that the Southeast Asian country would buy additional 87 fire trucks next year.
