Phnom Penh (FN), August 30 – Minister of Communications of the Communist Party of China Song Tao said that China will continue to support Cambodia's needs, for Cambodia is China's good old friend, speaking in a courtesy call with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh, on Thursday.

Eang Sophalleth, personal secretary of the premier, said that Song Tao conveyed a congratulatory message of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the premier regarding the victory in the July’s elections.

"On behalf of Chinese government, he expressed his support for the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and Prime Minister Hun Sen, who has led Cambodia with economic development, the improvement of people’s living conditions, peace and stability in the region," stated Eang Sophalleth.

"Cambodia has been a good old friend with China. No matter what happens, the relations remain firm and unchanged. With a comprehensive strategic partnership, Cambodia-China relations have also been strengthened with many contracts and agreements signed focusing on all-sector development," he added.

Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked Song Tao and Chinese President Xi Jinping for the support. He presented to him Cambodia's reform, Cambodian electoral process, and the history of Cambodian election.

The premier also awarded honorable medal to Song Tao, who has contributed to the strong cooperation between Cambodia and China.
