Phnom Penh (FN), August 25 – King Norodom Sihamoni granted an amnesty to release former Cambodia National Rescue Party lawmaker Um Sam An this Saturday, according to the Royal decree dated on 25 August 2018.

CNRP lawmaker Um Sam An was arrested on 10 April 2016 at Siem Reap International Airport.

He was charged with "incitement to commit a felony” and “incitement to cause discrimination" for writing on Facebook posts criticising the government on Cambodian Vietnamese border treaty case.

The lawmaker was sentenced to two years and six months imprisonment with a fine of $1,000.
