Phnom Penh (FN), August 22 – Kong Monika, President of Khmer Will Party (KWP), expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of the "Supreme Council of Consultation - SCC" initiated by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, which allow other parties to serve people despite not occupying any seats in the National Assembly.
On August 21, 2018, President and Secretary General of KWP participated in first ever consultations.
"Khmer Will Party is satisfied in the contributions to serving people and build Cambodia on the principle of democracy, respects for human rights and development," KWP wrote in the statement dated on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Hun Sen decided to establish “Supreme Council of Consultations – SCC” on Tuesday. SCC will exchange ideas among the 16 political parties to bring about the best policies for the national development, according to the premier.
“SCC will reflect our unity and solidarity in accordance with democracy,” he underlined.
According to the government’s spokesman Phay Siphan, SCC’s secretariat and meeting places are based at the Peace Palace. Each party appointed two representatives be the delegation to the SCC; chairman of SCC is shuffled once a month based on political party order on voting list.
SCC holds internal meeting once a month summoned by the chair, and holds meeting with Prime Minister once every six months. Other meetings are compulsory by calls of the premier. SCC’s term will end based on the Royal Government mandate.
