Bangkok (FN), Aug. 16 – Ministers of Commerce and business owners from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand gathered at the “CLMVT 2018 Forum: Taking-off through technology”, held at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center to discuss and share knowledge on digital economy and e-commerce.

“Nowadays, the whole world has entered the context of modern technology, so trading must also be modernized. Online trading is timely efficient and convenient for sellers and buyers,” Cambodian secretary of state of the ministry of commerce Chhoun Dara said.

"CLMVT countries gathered in this forum to promote the potential of e-commerce, most importantly to ease the smooth process at border trafficking, transportation, and other technical issues,” he added.

CLMVT forum aims to strengthen economic ties and regional networks among CLMVT countries, including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand. The forum also discussed to promote regional cooperation amidst challenges in the context of current global trade, with emphasis on the use of digital technology for inclusive and sustainable economic development among top business people, new entrepreneurs, leading policy makers, academics and younger generations from CLMVT countries.

CLMVT countries have high potential and rapid economic development, with a population of over 237 million and an average of 5.8% GDP growth that have attracted the attention of entrepreneurs from around the world to invest in their manufacturing and expanding markets, resulting in vibrant economic opportunities in the region.
