HO CHI MINH CITY, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City will reduce its agricultural land to 88,005 hectares from 118,052 hectares from now to 2020, according to its adjusted land-use master plan recently approved by the government.
Meanwhile, the city's non-agricultural land will increase to 188,890 hectares from 90,868 hectares, the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment said Monday.
In the 2020-2025 period, half of total land in Ho Chi Minh City will be earmarked for urbanization. By 2020, residential land in its urban area will surge to 1,250 hectares.
The city will intensify investment in developing four satellite urban areas, transport networks to connect residential areas and its metro systems, and public works such as schools, hospitals and entertainment facilities, said the department.
