Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 13 - President of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center Krasae Chanawongse expressed his congratulations to Cambodia on the successful 6th mandate National Assembly members election, held on 29 July 2018.
Krasae Chanawongse paid a courtesy calls on Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday morning at the Peace Palace Phnom Penh.
Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked Krasae Chanawongse for an intensive electoral monitoring on Cambodian election.
Following multiple verifications, voter turnout in the 6th National Assembly members election in 2018 has increased from 82.89% to 83.02%, an equivalent of 6,956,900 voters among the 8,380,217 million registered voters, according to the preliminary result announced by the National Election Committee (NEC) on Saturday.
The NEC recognized more than 90,000 international and national observers; over 500 international observers from over 70 institutions across the globe, including the European Union, the US, Asia, ASEAN, Australia and others, compared to only 243 international observers in 2017.
The electoral process was seen as a free, fair, just, and non-violent election by all the national and international observers.
Many political parties and countries, particularly from China, Russia, Japan, India, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos, and Vietnam, sent congratulatory letters to the premier for his party's overwhelming victory.
According to Eang Sophalleth, personal secretary to Prime Minister, Krasae Chanawongse informed the premier his Prime Minister Hun Sen’s biography work, reports of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center to the premier, and scholarship opportunities to Cambodian students. He also expressed his intention to set up a branch of his university in Cambodia.
Prime Minister Hun Sen confirmed that Cambodia is ready to be a member of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center and thanked Krasae for the efforts to develop Cambodian Human Resources.
