Phnom Penh (FN), August 13 - National Election Committee spokesman Hang Puthea confirmed on Monday that the official election result will be postponed due to the incoming complaint from the Cambodian Youth Party (CYP).
CYP president Pich Sros filed a complaint to the NEC on Monday, as he suspects the irregularities of the preliminary result, announced by the NEC on 11 August 2018.
According to the law, any participating political party can file a complaint to the NEC or the constitutional council by 14 August 2018, a day before the official result announcement schedule on 15 August.
"In case of a complaint, official result announcement will be postponed, for the NEC needs time to resolve the complaint," said the spokesman.
He added that the complaint shall be resolved prior to 10 September 2018, which was the official result announcement day.
NEC announced late Saturday the preliminary results of the 6th mandate parliamentarian elections held on 29 July 2018.
