Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 11 - Following multiple verifications, voter turnout in the 6th National Assembly members election in 2018 has increased from 82.89% to 83.02%, an equivalent of 6,956,900 voters among the 8,380,217 million registered voters, according to the preliminary result announced by the National Election Committee on Saturday.
The figure grows significantly compared to 69.6% of voter turnout in 2013 election, according to Dim Sovannarom, NEC spokesman.
The political parties raced in 2013 was only eight compared to 20 parties in the sixth mandate 2018.
The National Election Committee recognized more than 90,000 international and national observers; over 500 international observers from over 70 institutions across the globe, including the European Union, the US, Asia, ASEAN, Australia and others, while there were only 243 international observers in 2017.
