Phnom Penh (FN), August 6 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), strongly reacted to the former opposition leader Sam Rainsy for baselessly accusing the number of people going to vote on the July’s election a "fake" data.
The premier's reaction was made Monday morning receiving courtesy call on athletes, sportsmen, and trainers before departing to the 18th Asian Games.
In response to Sam Rainsy's accusation, the premier asked Sam Rainsy to swear to death in all forms if the accusation, intending to mislead the public, is a lie; however, the premier himself will die if the data is truly fake.
According to the National Election Committee (NEC), 82.89% of voter turnout in Cambodian general election 2018 reflects that Cambodians learnt to exercise their rights to vote to elect their political parties in favor without pressure or coercion.
In 2018, Cambodia ranked the second world's highest percentage of voter turnout, 82.89% following Belgium 87.21%.
President of Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Hun Sen said the participation of Cambodian citizens in the general election is not only a victory of democracy in Cambodia, but also the failure of the former opposition leader's “clean fingers” and “sleep at home to win” campaigns.
Prime Minister said that the swearing is not dead-end. In Cambodia and other countries around the world, the president, prime minister, parliamentarian, and senator must swear or take an oath prior to starting their offices.
