Phnom Penh (FN), July 31 - Cambodia has determined her own destiny through a free, fair, and just election held on Sunday, 29 July 2018, Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote on his facebook page on Tuesday.
82.89% of voter turnout of the 8,380,217 registered voters in the 6th National Assembly members elections and 20 participating political parties reflect a multi-party democracy, the most significant will of Cambodian people as stated the in the supreme law, the Constitution.
He said that Cambodian citizens have been exercising their rights to freedom of expression by going to vote to elect representatives from their political parties in favor without any pressure or coercion. The election was held fairly and freely, without any threat, intimidation, and violence. Approximately 90,000 national observers and over 500 international observers intensively observed the electoral process.
"Cambodia, an independent and sovereign country, will continue to hold elections every five years on Sunday in the fourth week of July so that citizens can have the opportunity to vote to decide the fate of the country freely to further strengthen democracy and rule of law," the premier wrote.
Head of the ruling party, Cambodian People's Party (CPP) thanked all the compatriots for choosing CPP with ballots in total of 4,875,189 to achieve further development and bring national interests for the people and kingdom.
