Phnom Penh (FN), July 27 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, head of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), said that if the former opposition party was not dissolved yet, Cambodia would be in war now.

The statement was made while Prime Minister Hun Sen led approximately 250,000 members to conclude the electoral campaign on Friday at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center and Wat Botum Wattey, Phnom Penh.

“We implemented legal measures to eradicate the traitors who attempted to overthrow the legitimate government and bring the country back to war. We tried our best to safeguard peace at any cost [...] And if we do not destroy them, maybe we would be in war at this hour,” said the premier.

He emphasized that CPP had invested lives to liberate Cambodia from the genocidal regime, and brought peace back to the nation, which is the root for survival, for the rights to living with dignity, and for the development of the nation phase by phase.

The July's election will be held for only one day on 29 July 2018. All the 20 political parties join the electoral campaign that lasts for 21 days from 7-27 July 2018.
