Phnom Penh (FN), July 26 - Foreigners living in and travelling to Cambodia do not worry about their safety and security unlike what the U.S Embassy Phnom Penh mentioned in the statement.

The American embassy issued a statement on 24 July 2018, expressing concern for the security and safety of her people in Cambodia, as the national parliamentary elections on July 29 approached; and advised them to be cautious for demonstrations or gatherings could turn confrontational without warning.

"This security message is being issued to alert U.S. citizens residing in, or traveling to, Cambodia that the upcoming national parliamentary elections on July 29 may spark political gatherings, demonstrations, or movements of security personnel. Although recent political gatherings in Cambodia have been largely nonviolent, demonstrations or gatherings could turn confrontational without warning,” U.S. Embassy wrote in the Security Alert.

Contrary to the embassy’s statement expressing negative outlook on Cambodia, many foreigners said that the kingdom is quiet, safe, and relaxing, better than the previous mandate.
