BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- An explosion took place in Chaoyang District, Beijing around 1 p.m. Thursday and the suspect has been taken into custody, the Beijing municipal bureau of public security said.
The suspect, a 26-year-old man surnamed Jiang from Tongliao, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, set off a suspected explosive device made from firecrackers at the intersection of Tianze Road and Anjialou Road, police said.
Jiang injured his hand in the incident and was transferred to hospital. No other casualties were reported, police said.
Further investigation is underway.
Traffic has resumed in the area.
