Thailand (FN), July 25 - Chea Serey, Director General of Technical Department of the National Bank of Cambodia, on Tuesday, led the working group to meet with Chantavarn Sucharitakul, Assistant Governor
Corporate Strategy and Relations Group of National Bank of Thailand, to work on financial cooperation project to strengthen the use of the national currency (Khmer Riel and Thai Baht) for cross-border transactions through Quick Response (QR) Code.
The joint project aims to ease money transfers from one entity to another through a barcode that can be scanned by a smartphone or a QR reader device.
The technology will introduce instant transfers between bank accounts across the two nations and reduce direct cashes; thus ensure security and provide conveniences to tourists nowadays and workers and investors in time ahead.
Users will not need to exchange the money before entering Cambodia-Thailand, especially Cambodian workers in Thailand can transfer their salary to their family with low cost of service and timely efficient.
