Kampot (FN), July 23 - Kamchay dam, located in Kampot province, has suffered heavy rains, with the high speed of flowing water of 1884.6 m³/s, as Cambodia has recently been hit by the tropical winds of the Pacific Ocean, resulting in heavy rains throughout the country, and flooding in some areas.
SINOHYDRO KAMCHAY HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT Co., Ltd, or Kamchay Hydroelectric Company, has actively cooperated with the Kampot Authority and Electricite Du Cambodge (EDC) to develop flood prevention and control measures.
Kamchay Hydroelectric Power Company has sent a number of water reports daily to the Kampot Provincial Office to prepare in advance. In the meantime, the station fastest water release is 1258.2 m³ / s and can prevent 4,361 thousand m³ of flood, reducing the impact of floods to the villages at the bottom of the river effectively.
Kamchay Hydroelectric Project, apart from generate electricity, is capable of protecting flood and contributing to the equilibrium of seasonal water flow, improving the water situation of the downstream waters, providing employment for Cambodians and irrigating farmland.
