OTTAWA, July 22 (Xinhua) -- A man shot 14 people, killing one and injuring 13 others in Toronto's east-end neighborhood before dying after an exchange of gunfire with police, according to CTV Monday.
Police Chief Mark Saunders said the shooting was not random and he did not rule out terrorism as a motive. It has not been confirmed whether the shooter was shot down by police or died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
The wounded were taken to hospitals, including a young girl, who was in critical condition.
Other than the shooter, a woman was killed at the scene.
Toronto police have been seeking videos and photos from people nearby. A video from one witness showed a man dressed in black with a hat firing three shots from the sidewalk into at least one shop or restaurant late Sunday.
The gunfire happened at 10 p.m. Sunday (0200 GMT Monday) in Greektown, a lively Toronto neighborhood in between Danforth and Logan avenues lined with restaurants and cafes.
