Phnom Penh (FN), July 23 - Sok Eysan, spokesman of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party stated Monday that Cambodia seems like a beautiful young woman for the west and the east to woo. However the old saying goes, “closeness is better than love”.

Sok Eysan stated that after Cambodia gained independence on 9 November 1953, Cambodia was seen as a geopolitics to gain hegemony by billionaires of the East and West, making Cambodia an attractive young woman for them to woo. However, both billionaires had different methods to do so.

“The western billionaire has always threatened, forced, and set conditions for this beautiful young woman to follow without valuing and respecting her self-determination right. This beautiful young woman used to eat Khmer traditional food like Prahok, Samlor Koko and that she was forced to eat butter, hamburger, and bread instead. Hence, the coercion is not aligned with what the woman wants – honor, dignity, mutual respect and rights to livings. The western billionaire could not provide so and thus the relations paled,” said CPP spokesman.

“The east billionaire, however, has similar customs, and shares mutual understanding with that woman; he knows what the woman wants and he embraces love from heart. Therefore the relations become comprehensive and trustworthy. The relations solidify from day to day with dignity, honor, and happiness,” he added.

The intimacy with the east made the west unhappy, leading him to interfere and paint the young woman as tending to the east, Sok Eysan underlined.
