SEOUL, July 20 (CGTN) -- South Korean court has sentenced ex-president Park Geun-hye to eight years in prison for illegally taking off-book funds from the state spy agency and interfering in elections during her term in office, Yonhap reported.

The court handed Park six years on spy fund charges, and two further years in jail for interfering in elections during her term in office. The court also ordered her to pay up 3.3 billion won (US$2.91 million).
