Phnom Penh (FN), July 18 — Hidehisa Horinouchi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, made a 60-second video on Wednesday to express gratitude towards His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, Prime Minister Hun Sen, and Cambodian people for their condolences to the Japanese victims of flood.

Hidehisa Horinouchi said that the Japanese government and people are working hard to rebuild the ruined area.

His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni expressed his condolences to Japanese Emperor Akihito regarding a massive flooding in southern and western parts of Japan, prompting millions of people to evacuate their homes and have claimed the lives of hundreds of Japanese citizens.

“The Khmer Royal Family and the Cambodian people join me in conveying to Your Majesty and the Japanese people, especially the families of the victims, our deepest condolences and compassion,” His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni wrote in the letter dated on July 12.

As of July 12, 2018, the death toll from the flood disaster in western Japan rose to 200, while search and rescue missions continue to find the many missing people.
