Phnom Penh (FN), July 18 - Using indelible ink for the upcoming election is just one among other measures of National Election Committee (NEC) to prevent people from voting again, Dim Sovannarom, spokesperson of the NEC said Wednesday shortly after some anonymous on Facebook posted and shared photos of artificial fingers to be used by those wishing to vote multiple times in the upcoming general election.

NEC spokesman confirmed that apart from indelible ink, NEC ensures no duplicate names in the voting list; that a committee will tick the names of voters who already voted, and a verification of voters’ IDs.

The July's election will be held on 29 July 2018. In total of 20 political parties has participated in the 21 days of electoral campaign from 7-27 July 2018.

Former opposition CNRP leaders, whose parties dissolved by the court and banned from politics due to treason, has tried all means including criticizing the indelible ink and calling for people not to go to vote in order to harm the election, as their parties could not participate.

However, many other party leaders racing in the sixth mandate election 2018 considered the opposition’s calls a destruction to democracy in Cambodia.
