Phnom Penh (FN), July 14 - Cambodia has exported over 80,000 tons of rubber within the first six months of 2018, amounted to $120 million of revenue, according to the official report of the General Department of Rubber, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on Saturday.

From January to June 2018, Cambodia has exported 84,419 tons of rubber, an increase of 21% compared to the same period in 2017. The average price of rubber is $1,434 per ton, a decrease of $336 per ton, or -18.98%.

Cambodia has 436,340 hectares of rubber plantations. So far, 170,230 hectares of rubber had been harvested, an equivalent to 39%, and the remaining is 266,109 hectares.

The government has set a goal to produce 290,000 tons of rubber by 2020 for the exports to China, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia.

Cambodia is ranked the 16th largest natural rubber producers in the world.
