BRUSSELS, July 12 (Xinhua)-- U.S. President Donald Trump repeated his criticism of Europe over trade and again threatened European car imports on Thursday in Brussels.

"I have great respect for Germany. My father's from Germany. Both of my parents are from the EU, despite the fact that they don't treat us well on trade," Trump said.

Trump said he expects the European Union to change course on trade policy, saying "I think we'll see that because on the 25th of July they're coming in to start negotiations with me. We'll see," at a news conference at the end of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit.

The European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is expected to travel to Washington on July 25 and meet Trump over trade.

The Trump administration already slashed tariffs on imports of steel and aluminium from the EU which retaliated by collecting duties on American goods ranging from Harley-Davidson motorbikes to jeans.

Trump had made repeated threats on the EU's car exports to the United States, and on Thursday he said "if they don't negotiate in good faith we'll do something having to do with all the millions of cars that are coming into our country and being taxed at a virtually zero level, at a very low level."
