Phnom Penh (FN), July 12 – His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni expressed his condolences to Japanese Emperor Akihito regarding a massive flooding in southern and western parts of Japan, prompting millions of people to evacuate their homes and have claimed the lives of hundreds of Japanese citizens.
“The Khmer Royal Family and the Cambodian people join me in conveying to Your Majesty and the Japanese people, especially the families of the victims, our deepest condolences and compassion,” His Majesty wrote in the letter dated on July 12.
As of July 12, 2018, the death toll from the flood disaster in western Japan has risen to 200, while search and rescue missions continue to find more missing people.
