Phnom Penh (FN), July 9 – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) on Monday morning assisted 16 Cambodian nationals who have been cheated by brokers in illegal marriage and overwork in China, according to Chum Sounry, MoFAIC’s spokesman on 9 July.

The 16 victims are from Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Kratie, Takeo, Battambang, Tbong Khmum, and Phnom Penh.

Cambodian embassy in China has provided accommodation and food, and assistance to prepare travel documents for the seven women to repatriate. The seven arrived Cambodia on 4-5 and 7 July 2018.

Three Cambodian women, aged 13 to 16, from Banteay Meanchey province, were victims of human trafficking at the Poipet international gateway on July 4, 2018.

A Cambodian housemaid who experienced overwork in Saudi Arabia has been assisted by Cambodian ambassador to Egypt to return to Cambodia in the morning of 4 July 2018.

A Cambodian woman, who was cheated by a broker and detained by Chinese authorities for illegally living in China, has been assisted by the Consulate General of Cambodia in Xi'an, China. The victim returned to Cambodia on 3 July 2018.
