DAMASCUS, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian air defenses hit an Israeli warplane during an Israeli airstrike on Syria's T-4 Air base in central Syria on Sunday, the Syrian army said in a statement on state TV.

The Syrian air defenses have forced other Israeli warplanes to leave the Syrian airspace after one fighter jet was hit and many missiles were intercepted, according to the report.

However, the TV said six missiles landed in the vicinity of the air base, adding that damages were caused with no reports on casualties yet.
