(Phnom Penh): On Monday (Aug. 4), CMAC Director General Heng Ratana confirmed that expert teams from CMAC, Golden West, and Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) visited and assessed the MK-84 bomb in Tmordaun Village, Kokmoun Commune, Banteay Ampil District, Oddar Meanchey Province.
According to Heng Ratana’s social media post, the team identified the bomb as an MK-84 with Lot No. IMI96GO15-11, clearly indicating its production year as 1996. This finding was confirmed by the Golden West’s Resident Representative in Cambodia, a former U.S. Marine Corps explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) expert.
This confirms definitively that the MK-84 in question was manufactured in 1996.
