(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, around Monday noon (Aug. 4) expressed deep concern over Thailand’s refusal to return 18 Cambodian soldiers, despite the fact that Thailand had violated the ceasefire agreement and deployed troops into a Cambodian military post to capture them.

Samdech Techo wrote on his social media on Monday (Aug. 4).

“After taking a two-hour rest, I resumed work by reviewing the frontline situation to ensure continued and strict implementation of the ceasefire and to reinforce defensive measures against any further violations.

I also held discussions with the prime minister to push for a request to the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene in the case of the 18 Cambodian soldiers captured after Thai troops entered our military post, a move that violates the ceasefire agreement, which forbids firing, troop movement, and reinforcement.

Why is Thailand still refusing to return the remaining 18 Cambodian soldiers?”
