(Phnom Penh): Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed that Cambodia fully respects the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire agreement, and Cambodian armed forces have never violated the ceasefire.

Chum Sounry spoke on Thursday (Jul. 31) during a press conference on the current status of the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation would like to once again confirm Cambodia’s full and unwavering respect for the ceasefire agreement reached in Malaysia on 28 July 2025,” the spokesperson underscored.

He emphasised that Cambodian armed forces have not violated the ceasefire at any time. He further noted that continued false accusations are an attempt to divert international attention away from Thailand’s own military actions along the border.

The spokesperson reiterated the Royal Government of Cambodia’s call for the immediate establishment of an independent, impartial monitoring group to oversee the ceasefire as agreed during the special meeting held in Malaysia.

He stressed that Cambodia remains fully committed to international law, ASEAN centrality, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. He urged Thailand to return to the path of peace-building based on mutual respect, transparency, and regional cooperation.

Furthermore, Chum Sounry stated that Cambodia stands ready to work with Thailand, ASEAN member states, and the international community to ensure strict adherence to the ceasefire and restore peace along the border.
