(Manila): On Thursday (Jul. 24), the Philippines urged Cambodia and Thailand to maintain open communication and de-escalate tensions along their border areas, while also calling for compassion and attention toward innocent civilians affected by the ongoing border conflict, according to a report by The Straits Times.
The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs emphasised in a statement, "The Philippines does not take sides in this dispute, but wishes to stress the importance of keeping communication channels open and reducing tensions."
The department further expressed its hope that both Thailand and Cambodia will resolve the conflict in accordance with international law.
