(Banteay Meanchey): From Thursday morning until afternoon (Jul. 24), Thai nationals working in Poipet City have been returning to their home country via the Poipet International Border Checkpoint. This mass departure follows an armed clash between military forces of Cambodia and Thailand along the border between Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear Provinces.
Banteay Meanchey Governor Oum Reatrey confirmed that most of those returning were Thai workers based in Poipet. Cambodian authorities facilitated their safe return to Thailand but have not permitted them to re-enter Cambodia.
The border conflict, which erupted on July 24, 2025, at Ta Moan Thom Temple in Oddar Meanchey, has since expanded to multiple battle zones along the Cambodia–Thailand border. Reports indicate the fighting began after Thai forces initiated an attack at the temple site.
