(Preah Sihanouk): The Cambodian Navy on Friday (Jun. 27) expelled a Thai oil tanker named Chetthanabodi 6 after it was found illegally entering Cambodia’s territorial waters in the maritime zone of Preah Sihanouk province. This action reflects the strict enforcement measures implemented by the Royal Government of Cambodia.
In addition to oil, the Cambodian Navy will strictly prohibit the smuggling of Thai fruits and vegetables via maritime routes.
It should be noted that on 22 June 2025, the Royal Government of Cambodia officially halted all fuel and gas imports from Thailand. In this regard, Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that fuel supply companies in Cambodia are able to import sufficiently from other sources to meet domestic fuel and gas demands within the country.
Keo Rottanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, also stated on Friday that since the Royal Government’s directive came into effect, no importation of fuel or gas from Thailand is permitted under any circumstances. He emphasized that Cambodia possesses adequate capacity to supply its own full energy needs independently.
