(Preah Vihear): Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, in full military uniform, issued a firm and direct order to all branches of the armed forces to remain on constant alert and be fully prepared to defend the nation and retaliate against any hostile forces attempting to violate Cambodia’s sovereignty.
Speaking on Thursday afternoon (Jun. 26) during a meeting with frontline troops in Preah Vihear Province, Samdech Techo made clear that while Cambodia does not seek war with any country, it will not stand idly by in the face of aggression. He stated that “we do not want war, but we are forced to respond when aggression arises.” He added that, “this time, we will not only defend—we will exercise our right to self-defence and also strike back.”
Samdech Techo went on to explain that Cambodia wants peace, and members of the armed forces wish to live with their families in peace. However, due to spillover from neighbouring conflicts, Cambodia cannot accept provocations or any form of invasion. He emphasized that “Cambodia is a dignified nation. We do not invade others, but we will not sit idly by and allow others to invade us.”
On the occasion, Samdech Techo expressed strong confidence in military leadership at all levels. He affirmed his belief that commanders, deputy commanders, and soldiers across the country will carry out the responsibilities assigned by their superiors with full discipline and national pride.
