(Phnom Penh): On 19 June 2025, Minister of Tourism Hout Hak presided over the inauguration ceremony of the new direct flight route connecting Phnom Penh and Penang, Malaysia, held at the Shangri-La Hotel, at the invitation of the Embassy of Malaysia in Cambodia.
According to an announcement by Cambodia Airways, the direct flights between Phnom Penh and Penang, one of Malaysia’s major commercial cities and home to the country’s second-busiest airport, will commence operations on 26 June 2025. The service will operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays.
This new regular flight connection represents a fruitful and effective collaboration between the two nations and their peoples. It reflects the visionary and strategic leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and its continuation by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, which has driven Cambodia’s development across all sectors. It also contributes to strengthening and expanding the diplomatic and friendly relations between Cambodia and Malaysia, especially in tourism connectivity, people-to-people exchange, and the promotion of both domestic and international tourism growth. Furthermore, it paves the way for increased investment opportunities in the tourism sector and other related fields.
