(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced on Sunday (Apr. 27) that he plans to make an unannounced visit to Walk Street along the riverside, during a meeting with leaders of Informal Economic Associations at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted, “Phnom Penh recently ranked second, and I congratulate everyone on this achievement. While Walk Street is a major attraction, the real strength comes from the strong participation of Cambodian citizens, who warmly welcome tourists and ensure their safety. Although there are still some gaps to address, we remain committed to improving the experience for both locals and visitors.”

Samdech Thipadei noted that this achievement is a source of pride. Many Cambodians have visited Walk Street and actively contributed to promoting its positive image. He underlined that practicing positivity — thinking positively, behaving respectfully, showing humility, and treating one another with kindness — helps to enhance Cambodia’s reputation.

It is worth noting that under the direction of Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng, Walk Street regularly features performances of classical music, folk music, traditional dances, round dances, circus shows, community performances, mobile libraries, and more. Each week, the program changes to offer new traditional performances. At the same time, food sales in the area have also increased.

Walk Street is operated by the Phnom Penh Administration on Saturdays and Sundays, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, along Sisowath Quay, from Baksei Cham Krong (St. 94) to the area in front of the Royal Palace.
