Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 21 – Canadia Bank, one of Cambodia’s most-established and leading commercial banks, has once again reinforced its leadership in the financial sector by being named Cambodia’s Best Retail Bank at The Asian Banker’s Global Excellence in Retail Finance Awards 2025, held in Hanoi, Vietnam. This marks the fifth time the Bank has received the honor, underscoring its consistent commitment to innovation, customer focus, and operational excellence.
The Global Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards, organized annually by The Asian Banker, is one of the most prestigious accolades in the banking industry. Canadia Bank previously secured the title in 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024. The Bank’s broader track record of excellence includes recognition as The Strongest Bank by Balance Sheet in 2019 and Best Managed Bank in 2022.
This latest award reflects Canadia Bank’s sustained efforts to deliver innovative retail banking solutions and expand access to financial services across Cambodia. The Bank continues to enhance its offerings through digital transformation, inclusive lending and deposit products, forging strategic partnerships, and various customer engagement programs on financial literacy and protection.
Driving Innovation and Excellence
In response to evolving customer needs, Canadia Bank has rolled out several key initiatives. These include enhancing the features of Canadia Bank App by introducing virtual cards for secure online payments and expanding cross-border payment capabilities with Thailand and Vietnam.
The Bank has also expanded its consumer lending services to new demographics by offering a flexible personal loan package, including tailored loans for migrant workers. Enhanced credit scoring and risk assessment frameworks have further improved approval rates for eligible borrowers. In partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia, Canadia Bank supports the disbursement of social security payments to NSSF members through fee-free KHR accounts—promoting financial inclusion and encouraging the use of the Khmer Riel for daily transactions.
Championing Financial Inclusion and Literacy
Aligned with the National Bank of Cambodia’s strategy for greater financial inclusion, Canadia Bank continues to invest in financial literacy through nationwide workshops and outreach programs. These initiatives aim to empower students, parents, and local communities to make informed financial decisions.
The Bank has expanded its physical and digital footprint to better serve customers across Cambodia. New Premier Service centers have been launched to provide bespoke solutions to meet the customers’ unique banking needs, and an extended partnership with TrueMoney Cambodia enables greater accessibility to deposits, withdrawals, and loan repayments through more than 10,000 agents nationwide. Looking ahead, Canadia Bank will also open a new branch and money exchange counters at the Techo International Airport in 2025, improving service access for both local and international travelers.
Mr. Raymond Sia, CEO and Executive Board Director of Canadia Bank, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating: "At Canadia Bank, our customers’ trust, satisfaction, and security are at the heart of everything we do.
