Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 28 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged to diversify goods and boost domestic production for both domestic consumption and export.

The premier spoke on Sunday (Apr. 28) during his meeting with more than 5,000 representatives of informal economy at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, “Our goal is not merely to enable production within Cambodia, but to ensure that it is carried out by Cambodian people. This is a significant undertaking because while production in Cambodia may be facilitated by foreign companies, it must ultimately be driven by Cambodian people.”

The premier further added that during his recent visit to Laos, he observed that approximately 30 Cambodian enterprises there were spearheading production activities led by Cambodian people, which he considers a source of national pride.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei acknowledged the improved skills of Cambodia’s human resources.

Samdech Thipadei underscored that the policy established by the seventh-mandate Royal Government, as well as in preceding mandates, aims to enhance productivity, foster ownership, and empower Cambodian people to manufacture products for local consumption. Looking ahead, Cambodia aims to achieve even greater strides in modern production and accomplishments.
