Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 28 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged three-generation traitor Sam Rainsy to prioritise national interests, speaking on Sunday (Apr. 28) during his meeting with more than 5,000 representatives of informal economy at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei responded to Sam Rainsy's recent criticism against the Funan Techo Canal Project, accusing it of harming the social environment and alleging it as serving Chinese military interests.

The premier highlighted the current inefficiencies in the transit of goods from the border to the sea, emphasising the time and financial burdens involved. Samdech Thipadei underscored Cambodia's proactive step in addressing these challenges through the Funan Techo canal project. He questioned why Sam Rainsy, a former Economy Minister, fails to grasp this fundamental aspect.

Samdech Thipadei continued, every time we need to transport goods, we need to ask for permission. For example, during the COVID19 and the border was closed, we have to wait until nighttime to cross the export routes. Even now, the natural phenomenon of the rising tide makes our ship unmanageable and costs us more time. Through our own canals, we can open at any time, which reduces the time and cost to help our transportation.

Samdech Thipadei urged politicians to unite in supporting the construction of the canal for the collective benefit of the people. He highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to realize this crucial infrastructure project. He also raised the facts that Sam Rainsy, who previously spread fear about vaccinations during the COVID19 outbreak, is now opposing this canal project initiative.

On the occasion, Premier Hun Manet expressed his deepest gratitude to Cambodian citizens both inside and outside the country for their landslide support for the Funan Techo Canal Project, and called for continued support.
