Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed the commitment of the Royal Government to safeguarding and promoting religious harmony for the nation's prosperity, peace, and development.

The premier spoke on Thursday evening (Mar. 21) at the 2024 Ramadan Iftar dinner in Phnom Penh.

"In the cause of the nation and the people, the Royal Government strived to ensure that all religions are protected and encouraged religious harmonization towards prosperity, peace and development," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei continued that the Royal Government has always provided a wide range of religious freedom to every citizen based on the principles of religious harmonization and opposed any discriminatory acts aimed at curbing religious affiliation for business purposes that can cause a religious crisis in Cambodia.

Taking this occasion, the premier pointed out that the Royal Government also offered various positions to the Cambodian Muslim Community in the top institutions of the nation and the sub-national levels.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei added that religious freedom allows Cambodian Muslims, such as Muslim students, to wear traditional Islamic clothes in educational institutions at all levels. Women are permitted to wear the Hijab, and men can wear the Taqiyah for identification photos on official documents such as passports and national ID cards.

In addition, there are many places for worship, such as at airports, public hospitals, factories, hotels, and supermarkets, especially at the Peace Palace of the Council of Ministers.
