Melbourne (FN), Mar. 3 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the new Royal Government of Cambodia, who has been in power for more than six months, is meant to "run," not to "walk."

The term "run" mentioned by Samdech Thipadei likely refers to the effort to propel Cambodia towards rapid development. The Royal Government of the new mandate has outlined the country's development policy with the aim of reaching upper middle-income status by 2030 and achieving high-income status by 2050.

The premier spoke on Sunday (Mar. 3) during his meeting with Cambodians in Australia and New Zealand.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "This country doesn't have the luxury of merely walking. We must run, pushing forward with determination because there are 17 million people relying on us to move this cart forward."

Samdech Thipdei continued that in considering the national issue, the Royal Government cannot neglect the economy, security, or its duty to serve the people. The six-month period following the election marked a historic moment with a change of leadership in the cabinet.

On the occasion, the premier added that historically, in Cambodia, whenever there has been a change of leadership, there has been a conflict. Samdech Thipadei recalled the transitions from the time of Lon Nol to the Khmer Rouge, underlined that leadership changes often coincide with periods of upheaval. However, Prime Minister Hun Manet viewed the transition to the new Royal Government as a pivotal moment in Cambodian history.
