Melbourne (FN), Mar. 3 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet considered that the expression of citizens in Australia and New Zealand reflected their understanding of democratic process, freedom of expression, and mutual respect.

The premier spoke on Sunday (Mar. 3) during the meeting with Cambodian citizens living in Australia and New Zealand.

"The freedom of expression is not restricted. It is normal for us to express differing views while respecting each other's rights. I would like to congratulate you and thank you for such action that reflects the maturity. The Royal Government does not have an intention for citizens to oppose each other as it does not yield any benefit for the nation," the premier underscored.

As for the protests against Samdech Thipadei's visit to Australia and the use of insulting words, Premier Hun Manet has no policy to retaliate against the opposition in Australia.

On the occasion, the premier mentioned that today’s meeting symbolised the solidarity between Cambodians everywhere, an important task for the nation-building process. Samdech Thipadei also expressed his gratitude for the valuable support.

Peace brings prosperity to Cambodia, leading to the reunification of Cambodians abroad, the premier added.
