Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 29 – President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists Phallop Thaiarry conveyed a heartfelt condolence on the passing of Supreme Patriarch Most Venerable Tep Vong.

"The passing of His Holiness Great Supreme Patriarch Most Venerable Tep Vong, the revered and high respected monk of the Royal Kingdom of Cambodia on 26 February 2024, deeply saddens us," according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Feb. 29).

"His Holiness was not just an ordinary monk, but the very active Buddhist monk who was known for his role of reviving of Buddhism and the Cambodian monkhood after the fall of Khmer Rouge. He was well-known for the high-profile roles at the interface between clergy and state. He was appointed chief of a unified Buddhist order that dissolved the division between Cambodia's two Buddhist orders, Thammayut and Mahanikaya. His holiness's unwavering dedication to the Teaching of the Buddha and tireless efforts in promoting peace, compassion, and understanding have left indelible mark on the hearts of the Buddhists and non-Buddhist alike. His profound wisdom and exemplary leadership had guided countless souls towards harmony and peace.

On behalf of the World Fellowship of Buddhists and its sub-organizations (WFBY and WBU), including all their Regional Centres; may I convey my sincerest condolence to Sangha and laities of the Royal Kingdom of Cambodia in remembrance of His Holiness Great Supreme Patriarch Most Venerable Tep Vong.

May the merit of the Triple Gem and his virtuous deeds guide him to nirvana."
