Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted that while the Royal Government of the new mandate prioritizes economic diplomacy policy, its role is merely to open the door. It is the responsibility of the private sector to seize the opportunities presented and take the initiative to capitalize on them.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Feb. 21) at the 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology &Innovation (MISTI) at the Ministry.

"Our economic policy over the past six months has centred on economic diplomacy policy. This is a common strategy among world leaders. During their visits, they consistently engage with the private sector. The Royal Government can only open the door, but it is the private sector's responsibility to step forward and embrace opportunities through competition," the premier underscored.

In this sense, the private sector, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), serves as the engine of our economy. It is crucial to highlight their role. It is not just important; it is paramount to align both formal and informal economies for collective progress. This synergy forms the bedrock of our economic development.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet marked 2024 a year of fundamental reform, particularly in the administrative and labour systems. If successful, these reforms would lay a solid foundation for the years ahead.
